Dr Stas Miliszewski
I am a graduate of Otago University Dental School, New Zealand. I have owned Waterways Dental since 1998, first set up in 1985.
I have always liked cosmetic dentistry (artistry) helping our patients enjoy a confident, beautiful smile.
In my spare time, we like to travel and spend time with our children and 7 grandchildren.

Practice Manager and Marketing Manager
Some people spend a lifetime working out which career would best suit them. Jess, Waterways Dental's Patient Care Coordinator and Marketing Manager, didn't have that dilemma. "I have always loved going to the dentist. I was that weird child that got excited about going to the dentist, so it's the best fitting role for me."
Completing her Cert III in Dental Assisting back in 2010, Jess has enjoyed her career in the industry ever since. Her favourite thing about her role? "Seeing people leave us with massive smiles on their faces. Whether they've been in for something small or something more in-depth, having the patient leave happy is why we do it!"
Hailing from Tasmania, Jess moved to Queensland in 2015 and lists being able to hold a conversation with anyone as one of her strongest skills. In her spare time, Jess enjoys spending time with her partner and their two giant dogs – a St Bernard and a Great Dane Cross.
With over 32 years in the industry, Shelley brings a wealth of experience to her role as Waterways Dental's Clinic Coordinator.
Originally from New Zealand, Shelley's passion for health began when she started helping school nurses while at primary school – so it's no surprise Shelley's self-proclaimed specialty is infection control.
Shelley formally studied and completed a Cert III and Cert IV, and lists job satisfaction and patients smiling upon leaving after working through their fears as the main things she relishes about her role at Waterways Dental.
When she's not patiently assisting patients in our Mermaid Waters dental surgery, Shelley's most likely making the most of our enviable coastal lifestyle – walking, visiting the beach, and socialising with friends.
Patient Care Coordinator
A relatively new face at Waterways Dental, Paula is one of our friendly Patient Care Coordinators readily welcoming clients in reception. Paula has been in the industry for over 18 years, previously working for Queensland Health Dental before moving into private practice.
Her specialty? Caring for patients – it's what made her first pursue a career in dental care. "I enjoy seeing how people's lives can be transformed by giving them a smile that makes them feel confident and happy. I enjoy making them feel at ease, and being a friendly face to chat to when they come in."
"I enjoy greeting patients with a smile and making patients feel at ease, helping them with any enquiries they have, and hopefully making dentistry a bit easier to comprehend as it can be a bit daunting and overwhelming for some patients," Paula said.
In her spare time, Paula enjoys spending time with family and friends, gym, reading, and walking her dog, Jimmy.
Originally hailing from Melbourne before relocating to the Gold Coast in 2014, Yasemin's been part of the Waterways Dental family for close to two years.
Demonstrating a keen interest in oral health since her teens, Yasemin's dental assisting career commenced when she landed a role with Waterways Dental not long after she finished school.
Her favourite thing about her role is seeing people leave with a confident smile after treatments, and helping people when in discomfort.
When she's not assisting clients at our Mermaid Waters dental surgery, Yasemin keeps herself busy. "I'm very social, I love spending my spare time with friends and family, going to the beach, being out on the water, and visiting the gym."
Born in Melbourne but raised on the Gold Coast, Casey’s career as a Dental Assistant spans fifteen years between sabbaticals to welcome new family additions.
From the age of 14 years old, Casey’s dream was to become a dental assistant in the navy. Enroute to achieving that goal, she had a change of heart and decided to start a family. This may have ruled the navy out, but in an interesting twist she still eventually found herself dental assisting in a workplace with an ocean-theme – Waterways Dental.
Now part of the Waterways team for two years, Casey finds lots of daily inspiration in her role. “I love working with nervous patients because it’s so rewarding making patients feel comfortable. I also enjoy the cosmetic side to dentistry, I love seeing smile makeovers.”
When Casey is not at Waterways assisting patients, she most enjoys spending quality time with her family.
If you're seeking a Mermaid Beach dentist who specialises in preventative care, we welcome you to visit our Mermaid Waters dental surgery.
The newest face at Waterways Dental, Sylee is one of our caring Dental Assistants. Sylee was motivated to get into the dental industry after having orthodontic treatment herself as a child. Sylee completed her Cert III in Dental Assisting four years ago and has enjoyed working in the industry since.
Her favourite part about being a Dental Assistant? Sylee loves helping people, especially children. Sylee is a whiz with all aspects of Myobrace.
“I love chatting with our patients, helping them feel at ease and comfortable with dental treatment”
Originally from New Zealand, Sylee enjoys being outdoors, enjoying nature, walking the dogs, going for bike rides, and spending time with her partner.
